Copywriting & strategy from a storyteller’s perspective.
Let’s keep it simple. You probably came here to see if I might be a great fit for your team or a worthy freelance contributor to your marketing initiatives. If not, then you’re probably here by accident, which is also totally fine. In fact, I stumbled upon my path to becoming a copywriter by accident as well.
Growing up, I consumed comic books and Stephen King novels like candy, while daydreaming of becoming a successful novelist and screenwriter when I was finally free to make my mark in the world.
But then, copywriting happened.
After graduating with a screenwriting degree and spending a year working for a film distributor in LA, I realized I was burnt out and needed a break. I mean, it was cool sharing a roach-infested one-bedroom apartment in North Hollywood with a total stranger, but I needed a change.
So upon the advice of a friend, I started working as a copywriter at a higher education-focused agency in Kansas City, my hometown. Not only did that decision change my career trajectory, it changed my life by helping me become a much better writer, equipped with new professional skills I never knew existed.
I quickly realized my natural love for storytelling was a perfect fit for the world of advertising. I came to enjoy collaborating with others as much as putting my head down and executing my written deliverables. And over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work with a lot of amazing people and clients.
I know you didn’t come here for my life story. But I think character and life experience matter in working relationships. So I try to take a personable approach to everything I do in life.
